There are several ways to assign a page to a variant:

  • On the Confluence page where requirements are defined

  • On the Administration page.

On the Confluence page

The byline dialog gives you the information of the assigned variant.

When you change the variant, you need to click the Save button.

It may display if the page has children, and if you want to also include them in the assignment.

Example of a page having children, and user selected to include children.

The user has to click Save button to trigger the indexation.

The byline dialog knows if there are children to index or not.

In this case, it does not propose to Include child pages, because the page does not have some.

If your page requirements are listed as dependencies of other requirements, the dependencies will have to be edited to point at the new variant.

In the Administration of Variants page

When clicking on the Assign pages button, a dialog is displayed:

When opening the dialog a list of page of your space are displayed as a tree (first level, then you can expand to see the children)

  1. You can filter the pages

    • By typing the name

    • By using the CQL syntax

  2. The list of variants associated to the displayed pages are listed. You can search the variant you want to use by typing in the Select a variant placeholder

  3. You need to check the boxes next to the pages you want to assign

  4. Then you drag and drop the selected items onto the variant you want.

The process may take some time, you can close the dialog, the processing is done in background.
